Konecta, a global customer experience (CX) and business process outsourcing (BPO) company, has opened its regional headquarters and first global Center of Excellence for generative artificial intelligence in New Cairo as part of its $100 million investment plan in Egypt.

The expansion was highlighted during a recent visit by Raafat Hendy, Egypt’s minister of communications and information technology, to Konecta’s new headquarters. The facility serves markets across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

At the center of the operation is Konecta’s first global AI Center of Excellence, putting Egyptian technology talent at the heart of the company’s worldwide artificial intelligence strategy.

The Cairo center designs, builds and deploys generative AI and agentic AI solutions, including Konecta’s newly launched Kolibri platform. The technology supports the company’s global delivery operations and more than 500 clients.

AI, jobs and global clients

Konecta’s Egyptian teams provide AI-powered digital customer experiences, technical support and digital transformation services in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

The company is already using Cairo to support major international clients, including Lenovo. Following its operational launch in September 2025, Konecta’s Egyptian team has been handling e-commerce operations for Lenovo, while discussions are expanding into CX BPO and AI-enabled services.

“Egypt is not just a delivery location for Konecta, it is our regional headquarters and home to our first global Center of Excellence for Generative AI,” said Ahmed El Harany, CEO of Konecta for the Middle East and Africa. Konecta expects its Egyptian workforce to reach 600 professionals and grow to 800 by the end of 2026.

Egypt’s digital services push

Hendy said Konecta’s expansion demonstrates Egypt’s ability to attract global technology investment, transfer international expertise and create high-value employment while strengthening the country’s position as an outsourcing hub.

Konecta began its Egyptian expansion after signing a memorandum of understanding in January 2025. Service delivery started in September 2025, followed by the inauguration of its regional headquarters and AI center in July 2026.

The expansion supports Konecta’s Katalyst 2028 strategy, backed by €150 million ($170 million) in global funding to accelerate generative AI deployment.

The company is also working with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) on training and upskilling programs designed to improve the global competitiveness of Egyptian talent and expand Egypt’s digital services exports.

Headquartered in Madrid, Spain, Konecta employs more than 100,000 people across nearly 30 countries, providing multichannel customer service, technical support and AI-driven digital solutions.
