Elsewedy Electric expands Saudi footprint with Qiddiya, Monorail and solar projects

Elsewedy Electric, the Cairo-based multinational cable and electrical equipment manufacturer led by the Egyptian billionaire El-Sewedy family, is accelerating its expansion in Saudi Arabia, delivering critical infrastructure across power, transport and renewable energy projects aligned with Vision 2030. 

The Egyptian engineering and infrastructure group has strengthened its regional position through a series of high-impact project milestones spanning energy distribution, urban mobility and clean power.

The company recently completed the supply of medium-voltage cable joints and terminations for the Qiddiya mega-project near Riyadh, one of Saudi Arabia’s flagship developments. Executed through its subsidiary, Elsewedy Electric Industrial Saudi Co., the project reinforces the firm’s role in supporting large-scale infrastructure with reliable electrical solutions.

Saudi expansion across energy and infrastructure

Qiddiya, a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, is being developed as a global destination for entertainment, sports and culture. Elsewedy Electric’s contribution ensures efficient and reliable power distribution across the site, supporting the complex demands of a large-scale urban development.

Cairo Monorail highlights technical capabilities

The company’s expansion is not limited to Saudi Arabia. In Egypt, Elsewedy Electric has achieved a major milestone in the Cairo Monorail project, receiving a provisional acceptance certificate for its installation works. 

The 57-kilometer system connects the New Administrative Capital to Nasr City and represents one of the region’s most advanced urban transport systems.

Designed as a fully electric, driverless network, the Cairo Monorail is expected to transform urban mobility, with capacity to move tens of thousands of passengers per hour. Elsewedy Electric’s role in power rail and signaling installation highlights its ability to execute complex, large-scale transport infrastructure projects.

Renewable energy push in Saudi Arabia

In the renewable energy space, the company is also contributing to the Tabarjal Solar PV Independent Power Plant in Saudi Arabia. The 400 MW project forms part of the Kingdom’s National Renewable Energy Program and underscores its strategy to diversify energy sources and accelerate the transition toward clean energy.

Elsewedy Electric’s scope includes supplying advanced cable accessories critical to efficient power transmission across the solar facility. The project builds on its track record in delivering large-scale photovoltaic developments and strengthens its position in Saudi Arabia’s growing renewable energy market.
