Republic Bank Ghana appoints Elsie Enninful-Adu to board as non-executive director

Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC has appointed financial services executive Elsie Enninful-Adu as a Non-Executive Director of its Board as the Ghanaian bank moves to strengthen its governance and leadership capabilities.

The appointment took effect on August 3, 2026, following approval from the Bank of Ghana, according to a statement issued by Republic Bank (Ghana) on Thursday, August 13.

Enninful-Adu brings more than 30 years of experience across the financial services industry, with expertise spanning investment management, private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, capital markets, credit risk, strategic planning and advisory services.

Elsie Enninful-Adu brings three decades of financial experience***

Enninful-Adu has more than two decades of executive-level experience, alongside extensive exposure to board governance and regulatory matters within Ghana’s financial sector.

She currently serves as an Executive Director at Parkstone Capital, where she leads the design and delivery of advisory services to clients across the financial, legal, education and hospitality sectors. Before joining Parkstone Capital, she served as Team Lead of the Ghana CARES Guarantee Scheme, where she helped establish operational systems and measurement frameworks for the scheme.

She also led a team responsible for assessing and processing credit guarantee applications under the programme. Her previous experience includes senior roles covering strategic planning, money markets, corporate finance and advisory services within Ghana’s financial services industry.

Bank expects appointment to strengthen strategic growth

Commenting on the appointment, Republic Bank (Ghana) Board Chairman Jonathan Prince Cann said Enninful-Adu’s experience across financial services, investment management, corporate finance and governance would strengthen the bank’s board.

Cann also highlighted her understanding of Ghana’s financial sector, expressing confidence that her expertise would support the bank’s continued growth and strategic ambitions.

Republic Bank Ghana Managing Director Benjamin Dzoboku also described Enninful-Adu’s leadership experience and track record as valuable additions to the bank. He said the bank looks forward to working with her as it advances its strategic priorities.

New director holds banking and valuation qualifications

Enninful-Adu holds a Master of Business Administration in International Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce and Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast.

She is also a Certified Valuation Analyst of the National Association of Certified Valuators & Analysts in the United States and has completed several courses offered by the Ghana Stock Exchange.

Her combination of financial-sector experience, investment expertise, corporate advisory knowledge and governance exposure positions her to contribute to Republic Bank Ghana’s board oversight and strategic decision-making.

Republic Bank Ghana strengthens position in financial sector

Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC is a subsidiary of Republic Financial Holdings Limited, a financial services group headquartered in Trinidad and Tobago. The Ghanaian bank operates as a universal banking institution, providing corporate, commercial and retail banking services alongside investment banking, trustee services, mortgage banking, Visa credit and debit cards and microfinance.

Its parent company, Republic Financial Holdings, is described by the bank as the largest and most profitable independent bank in the English-speaking Caribbean. The group has operated across the region for more than 185 years and reported total assets exceeding $20 billion as of March 31, 2026.

Republic Bank Ghana’s latest board appointment comes as the institution continues to execute its strategic growth agenda and deepen its contribution to Ghana’s financial sector. The bank also maintains a corporate social responsibility programme focused on four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: good health and well-being, quality education, clean water and sanitation, and climate action, under its Power to Make a Difference initiative.
