Marriott International has entered Uganda with the opening of Kampala Marriott Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments Kampala, bringing the Marriott Hotels and Marriott Executive Apartments brands to the country for the first time.

The dual-branded property in Nsambya strengthens Marriott’s presence in East Africa and targets Uganda’s expanding business, diplomatic, MICE and leisure travel markets.

Located minutes from Kampala’s city center and about 40 kilometers from Entebbe International Airport, the property provides access to government institutions, corporate headquarters and diplomatic missions. Nearby attractions include the Uganda Museum, Independence Monument and Kabaka’s Palace.

277 rooms and serviced apartments

Kampala Marriott Hotel has 181 guestrooms and suites, including a Presidential Suite, with dedicated workspaces, high-speed connectivity and locally inspired design. The twin towers are connected by a skybridge, while selected rooms offer views toward Lake Victoria and Kampala’s seven hills.

The Marriott Executive Apartments Kampala adds 96 fully serviced apartments, ranging from studios to a three-bedroom penthouse. The residences feature separate living, dining and sleeping areas, equipped kitchens and dedicated workspaces, targeting executives, consultants, diplomats, project teams and relocating families.

Six restaurants and major event facilities

The hotel features six restaurants and bars, including The Woodshed Grill & Bar, Luna Cake Studio, Majlis Coffee Lounge, Kasana Deck, Iron Taps Sports Bar and Tatu Rooftop Bar.

Other amenities include Saray Spa, steam and sauna facilities, a fitness center and an outdoor heated swimming pool. The property also offers 1,293 square meters of event space across six venues, including the Kampala Grand Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 1,000 guests.

“As Uganda’s tourism and business sectors continue to evolve, we see increasing demand for hospitality experiences that cater to a broad range of traveller needs,” said Johan Cronjé, Regional Vice President, Sub-Saharan Africa, Marriott International.

Marriott expands African footprint

The Kampala opening adds to Marriott’s growing African portfolio as international hotel operators target the continent’s rising business and tourism demand.

Based in Bethesda, Maryland, Marriott International operates a global portfolio spanning luxury, premium, select, midscale, extended stay and all-inclusive brands.

As of June 30, 2026, Marriott had more than 10,000 properties across 148 countries and territories, with operations spanning hotels, residences, timeshare, yachts, outdoor lodging and other hospitality products.
