Volvo Cars South Africa is expanding its footprint in Cape Town with a new dealership in Century City, strengthening its position in the country’s premium automotive market as demand for electrified vehicles grows.

Operated by Super Group Dealerships, Volvo Cars Century City is positioned in one of Cape Town’s major business and retail hubs. The site gives Volvo greater visibility among premium vehicle buyers while offering a broader retail and ownership experience.

Volvo builds its electrified vehicle range

The dealership supports Volvo’s wider electrification strategy, giving customers access to mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles.

Its lineup includes luxury SUVs equipped with advanced driver-assistance technology, while sustainable interior materials reinforce Volvo’s focus on safety, design and environmental performance.

“Volvo Cars Century City is more than a dealership; it’s a destination for innovation, safety, and sustainability,” said Christopher Diamond, General Manager of Volvo Cars Century City. “We look forward to welcoming more customers and strengthening Volvo’s presence in Cape Town.”

Grant Locke, Managing Director of Volvo Cars South Africa, said the company sees an evolving opportunity in the country’s automotive market. “Cape Town’s automotive landscape is undergoing a swift evolution, driven by increasing consumer demand for sustainable luxury and intelligent design,” Locke said.

He added that Volvo Cars Century City is intended to serve motorists seeking Scandinavian engineering, while additional dealership sites are being assessed in identified growth markets.

Volvo’s South Africa growth strategy

Volvo Cars South Africa offers a growing portfolio of mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric luxury vehicles under Locke’s leadership. The company was named South Africa’s favorite electric vehicle maker after delivering 539 electric units in 2024, more than 20% ahead of its nearest competitors.

The expansion comes as Volvo continues to build its global electrification strategy while maintaining its focus on safety and premium vehicle technology.

Volvo Cars has been publicly listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm stock exchange since 2021. Its group structure includes Volvo Cars, software company Zenseact and HaleyTek, which develops Android-powered infotainment systems.

Founded in 1927, Volvo Cars remains headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. The company also has regional headquarters in Mahwah, New Jersey, for the Americas and Shanghai for the Asia-Pacific region.
