Naked Coffee is expanding its Johannesburg footprint with a new outlet at One Rosebank, a luxury residential development on Cradock Avenue near Rosebank Mall.

The opening puts the growing coffee and food brand inside one of Johannesburg’s established retail districts, adding another premium location to its six-store network across South Africa.

One Rosebank, at 37 Cradock Ave., combines apartments with restaurants, retail space and resident amenities, positioning the development around a walkable urban lifestyle.

The project is within walking distance of Rosebank Mall, The Zone and The Firs, while Rosebank Gautrain Station is about a two-minute drive away, strengthening its appeal to residents and visitors.

A prime Johannesburg address

Developed by Tricolt Group in partnership with Kent Gush Properties, One Rosebank’s Phase 2 is currently available for sale.

The development is built around convenience, allowing residents to reach retail, dining, transportation and other services without relying heavily on cars. Naked Coffee will join that mix from within the building.

The development also offers 24-hour security, CCTV surveillance, biometric access control, secure basement parking and electric vehicle charging bays.

Residents have access to backup power and water supplies, as well as high-speed fibre internet. Those features reinforce One Rosebank’s positioning as a self-contained residential destination in a major commercial district.

Six stores and counting

Naked Coffee was founded in 2015 by Shaun Els and Victor Barbosa, initially operating from a small coffee hut in Melrose Arch before expanding to Morningside Shopping Centre.

The founders later broadened the business beyond coffee, turning it into Naked Kitchen & Coffee Bar in 2017 with a dedicated food offering.

The expanded concept was built around fresh produce, seasonal ingredients and home-style cooking, while retaining Naked Coffee’s exclusive blend.

Its Morningside store features a contemporary interior designed by Tristan du Plessis, founder of Studio A, with custom furniture, leather and brass lighting and handmade forest-green tiles.

The brand now has five Johannesburg locations in Illovo, Hyde Park, Sandton, Morningside and Melrose Arch, alongside its Sea Point store in Cape Town.

Rosebank will become the latest addition as the company continues building a footprint around affluent residential, retail and commercial neighborhoods.

Coffee meets full-day dining

Naked Coffee has built its identity around Scandinavian-inspired interiors, minimalist décor and a strong emphasis on green, while positioning premium single-origin coffee at the center of its offering.

Its food business has grown alongside the cafés, giving customers options beyond the traditional coffee-and-pastry format.

Breakfast includes avocado toast on sourdough, buttery croissants and the Naked Benedict, while lunch features wraps, gourmet sandwiches and salads.

In May 2026, the company also introduced Naked After Dark, an evening dinner menu available Wednesday through Saturday exclusively at its Illovo branch.

Barbosa has described the founders’ ambition as building a brand capable of standing out in cities around the world, with Johannesburg as the starting point.

The Rosebank opening extends that strategy into another high-value urban node, combining the brand’s coffee, food and lifestyle proposition with a residential development designed for everyday convenience
