  • Smartphone adoption fuels the rise in digital transactions and financial inclusion.
  • Regulatory support is enabling a fully digitized national payment ecosystem.

Namibia’s financial technology sector is emerging as one of Southern Africa’s most dynamic growth stories, reshaping how individuals and businesses move money.

Driven by rising smartphone adoption, a push for financial inclusion, and consumer demand for faster, cheaper transactions, the country’s leading fintech players are building payment ecosystems that rival more established markets.

From bank-led innovations like Bank Windhoek’s Pay2Phone and FNB’s eWallet to homegrown disruptors like PayToday and MobiPay, Namibia is witnessing a rapid shift toward mobile-first, cashless solutions.

These platforms are not only transforming everyday commerce—from bill payments to QR-based retail transactions—but also enabling small businesses and rural communities to access the digital economy.

With support from regulators and integration into the national payment system, these ten companies are setting the pace for Namibia’s transition into a fully digitized payment landscape.

Here are 10 leading fintech firms transforming mobile payment in Namibia:

Bank Windhoek (EasyWallet / Pay2Phone / Pay2Cell)

Bank Windhoek has built a mobile-first payments stack that turns phone numbers into payment endpoints.

EasyWallet enables once-off cardless cash-outs, Pay2Phone allows account-to-mobile transfers, and Pay2Cell lets customers pay FNB account holders using just a cellphone number.

Integration into the Bank Windhoek app and USSD functionality ensures accessibility without mobile data.

DPO Group (Virtual Card Services Namibia)

As one of Namibia’s leading online payment gateways, DPO enables merchants to accept digital transactions from local and international customers.

Operating via Virtual Card Services Namibia, it powers e-commerce checkouts, pay-by-link solutions, and is listed among official participants in Namibia’s national payment system.

FNB Namibia (eWallet & Pay2Cell)

FNB’s eWallet remains a cornerstone of Namibia’s mobile money ecosystem, allowing instant transfers to any cellphone number for cardless ATM withdrawals, airtime purchases, and SME bulk payments.

Its Pay2Cell service further extends interoperability within the banking sector.

MobiPay (incl. MobiVend)

One of Namibia’s earliest fintech pioneers, MobiPay facilitates merchant acceptance, QR code transactions, bill payments, and airtime/electricity top-ups.

The MobiVend platform supports a nationwide value-added service network, reinforcing phone-based payment habits.

Nam-mic Payment Solutions (NPS)

A licensed e-money issuer, NPS provides wallet infrastructure for low-cost, mobile, card, and internet transactions—especially targeting financially underserved communities.

Recognized by the Bank of Namibia since 2012, NPS plays a long-term role in Namibia’s cashless payments growth.

NamPost (MyNamPost Banking & Third-Party Payments)

NamPost’s digital banking channels—mobile app, online banking, and third-party bill payments—extend financial services into rural areas.

The mobile app now integrates wallet-like features for daily transactions, enhancing access for unbanked populations.

Nedbank Namibia (Send Money & MobiMoney)

Nedbank’s Send Money and MobiMoney allow customers to send funds to any mobile number for cardless cash withdrawals.

With USSD access, the service caters to both smartphone and basic phone users, supporting low-value, high-frequency payments.

PayPulse (Standard Bank Namibia)

PayPulse is a bank-agnostic mobile wallet that enables money transfers, merchant QR payments, electricity/airtime purchases, and bill settlements.

Available on both Android and iOS, it has become one of Namibia’s most widely adopted mobile payment apps.

PayToday

A homegrown Namibian fintech success story, PayToday offers instant P2P transfers, merchant QR payments, parking payments, and utility purchases.

Enhanced with biometric authentication and card tokenization, it stands out as a consumer favorite.

Virtual Technology Services (VTS)

VTS operates as a bank-agnostic fintech provider with e-money issuance authorization from the Bank of Namibia.

As a listed participant in the national payment system, it plays a key role in enabling secure and interoperable digital transactions.
