Sunlife Mauritius, formerly known as Sun Resorts Ltd, a leading company in the hospitality and tourism sector, headquartered in Mauritius, is more than a hotel group—it is part of Mauritius’ identity, now operating as a global financial services company.
For nearly five decades, the century-old family-owned conglomerate in which Mauritian businessman Arnaud Dalais’ CEIL holds a majority 50.1 percent stake has helped shape the island’s hospitality landscape, blending attentive service with a lasting respect for culture, nature, and community.

Earlier in July, the Mauritian businessman retired shortly after handing over to his son, Jean-Pierre Dalais, who currently leads CEIL.
Sunlife, through Sun Limited, has undergone restructuring, owning and managing six prestigious resorts in Mauritius, including iconic properties such as the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita and Shangri-La Le Touessrok.

Its beachfront resorts are not just places to stay but places to live at the pace of the Indian Ocean—where each sunrise, coconut palm, and coral lagoon becomes part of the story.
Since opening its first hotel in 1972, Sunlife has become synonymous with Mauritian elegance. Generations of travelers have come seeking more than a getaway: they return for authenticity, leisure, and a connection to the island’s rhythm.
A legacy of island luxury
As Mauritius grew into a global travel destination, Sun Resorts, now Sunlife, expanded with it. Today, the group manages four landmark properties, including Sugar Beach, Long Beach, La Pirogue, and Ambre. Each of these high-end resorts has its own personality but shares a commitment to warmth and refinement.

In addition to its resort operations, Sun Limited has a presence in international markets through marketing offices in London, Paris, and Frankfurt, and representations in Spain, Russia, and the Middle East.
Sugar Beach reflects colonial-inspired grandeur with sweeping lawns. La Pirogue, beloved since 1976, features thatched bungalows and a village-style layout.
Long Beach offers a contemporary feel with sustainable design, while Ambre delivers a serene, adults-only retreat. Together, the resorts showcase the many moods of Mauritius.

Locations that tell a story
The settings of Sun Resorts’ hotels are as important as their architecture. From the golden stretch of Flic-en-Flac to the lively shores of Belle Mare, each property sits on a coastline that frames everyday island life—fishing boats leaving at dawn, markets alive with voices, reefs glowing with color, and volcanic hills rising inland.
Rooms, dining, and leisure
Rooms are designed with a sense of place—colonial-inspired suites at Sugar Beach, traditional huts at La Pirogue, contemporary layouts at Long Beach, and romantic spaces at Ambre.
Dining reflects Mauritius’ cultural mix, with French, Creole, Indian, and Chinese flavors appearing across restaurants, grills, and buffets. Sunset cocktails, beachfront barbecues, and Creole cooking classes add to the experience.
Activities span from sailing, diving, and kitesurfing to spa treatments and guided hikes. Families find kids’ clubs and activities, while couples discover private corners for seclusion.
A place for milestones
Over the years, Sun Resorts has hosted weddings, anniversaries, and family reunions, turning personal moments into lasting memories. Its blend of attentive service and natural beauty makes it a trusted backdrop for life’s milestones.
A retreat that endures
Nearly 50 years on, Sun Resorts remains one of Mauritius’ most trusted hospitality brands. Its reputation rests on more than prime locations or elegant design—it reflects a philosophy of connection. Guests leave with more than memories of a holiday; they carry an experience tied to the island itself.
As travel evolves, Sun Resorts continues to adapt, weaving sustainability into daily operations and strengthening cultural ties. In doing so, it keeps alive a style of Mauritian hospitality that feels as enduring as the ocean that surrounds it.
