Lemala Kuria Hills adds a two-bedroom luxury suite in Serengeti

Luxury safari operator Lemala Camps & Lodges is adding a new two-bedroom suite at Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge>, located within Serengeti National Park.

The expansion reflects steady demand for high-end safari travel in East Africa, where affluent families and small groups are seeking more private, spacious accommodation.

Tanzania’s luxury tourism market has held up despite global economic uncertainty, supported by strong interest in bucket-list wildlife experiences.

Across the Serengeti, lodge operators are upgrading rooms and adding private-use options to appeal to travelers who value comfort, exclusivity and flexible space for multi-generational trips.

At Kuria Hills, the new unit will be introduced during the lodge’s annual closure from March to May, a period typically used for maintenance and upgrades.

Bookings are already open, with the first guests expected from July 15, in time for the peak safari season.

Focus on family travel

The two-bedroom suite brings Kuria Hills in line with other properties in the Lemala portfolio that cater to families and small groups.

Travel advisers say demand for interconnected or private two-bedroom units has grown as more families opt to travel together while maintaining privacy.

The lodge, known for its elevated views near the Mara River and close access to the Great Migration route, has become a preferred base for travelers seeking both wildlife and seclusion.

Adding a larger suite is expected to strengthen its appeal in the competitive luxury safari market.

Property upgrades underway

The new suite will mirror the lodge’s canvas-and-glass design, with updated interiors and a private plunge pool. It will be built on the site of the current spa.

Dining tent to be redesigned and expanded for better guest flow.

As part of the refurbishment, the spa will move to a new location within the property.

The main dining tent will also be redesigned and expanded to improve space and guest flow.

For Lemala, the investment underscores confidence in Tanzania’s position as one of Africa’s leading safari destinations, where demand for premium, conservation-focused travel remains resilient.
