Salt Capital, a private equity investment firm focused on growth capital investments in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, alongside Proparco, has acquired the Namibian Oncology Centre (NOC), Namibia’s leading private cancer care provider, in a deal highlighting growing investor confidence in Africa’s healthcare sector.

The transaction sees Proparco participate through its FISEA Fund, a vehicle focused on high-impact investments across Africa’s emerging markets, and a longstanding partner to Salt Capital.

Expanding access to cancer care

Salt Capital managing partner Jan Bosch said the acquisition will strengthen access to specialized oncology services while supporting long-term healthcare expansion across Namibia.

Founded by Namibian clinicians, NOC has become central to cancer diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. The acquisition is expected to improve early detection, patient education, and treatment outcomes, particularly in underserved regions.

Strengthening private healthcare investment

Salt Capital has expanded its footprint in Namibia’s healthcare sector through prior investments in Rhino Park Private Hospital, Welwitschia Hospital, and Erongo Radiology. The addition of NOC reinforces its position as a key private investor in the country’s medical ecosystem.

Maintaining operational independence

NOC will continue operating under its current leadership, with managing director Stephanie Quarmby retaining her role. The new shareholders will support governance and long-term sustainability while preserving clinical autonomy.

Rising investor interest in African healthcare

Proparco regional director Johann Choux said the investment aligns with efforts to reduce inequalities in access to essential healthcare services. The deal reflects a broader trend of capital flowing into specialized medical services across Africa.

The Namibian Oncology Centre operates facilities in Windhoek, Swakopmund, and a new site planned in Ongwediva. The centre provides radiation therapy, medical oncology, and stem cell transplantation, and runs Namibia’s only two linear accelerators.

The acquisition signals a strategic push to combine capital with impact, improving healthcare infrastructure and patient outcomes across Namibia.
