Accor, a world-leading French hospitality group has signed an agreement with MAVEN Developments to bring its TRIBE brand to Ain Sokhna, marking the group’s first TRIBE hotel in Egypt. The project, set within the Baymount development, highlights the Red Sea coast’s growing appeal as a short-stay leisure destination.

The move also reflects Accor’s push to expand beyond major cities, as demand shifts toward lifestyle-led stays closer to urban centers such as Cairo.

TRIBE Ain Sokhna: 150 rooms, Red Sea push

The planned TRIBE Ain Sokhna at Baymount will feature 150 rooms, alongside two restaurants, a pool, private beach access, a gym and a spa. The hotel is designed around open, social spaces that cater to guests who value both comfort and connectivity.

Located within driving distance of Cairo, the property is expected to draw weekend travelers as well as international visitors. Developers say the project responds to rising interest in flexible, experience-focused stays in Egypt.

For Accor, the signing also underlines its focus on growing in leisure markets along the Red Sea. The company has steadily added resorts in the region as tourism infrastructure improves and domestic travel gains strength.

Raki Phillips, Accor’s regional president for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, said Egypt remains central to the group’s growth plans. He added that the partnership reflects confidence in Ain Sokhna’s development as a leisure hub and in demand for design-focused brands such as TRIBE.

MAVEN expands into hospitality sector

For MAVEN Developments, the agreement marks a deeper step into the hotel sector. The company has built its portfolio around mixed-use projects that combine residential and leisure elements, including Baymount in Al Galala.

Chief Executive Officer Hossam El Sharkawy said Ain Sokhna is gaining ground as a lifestyle destination, supported by new infrastructure and second-home demand. He said working with Accor brings a fresh hospitality concept to the market while adding long-term value to the development.

MAVEN Developments, established in 2019 as an affiliate of the U.S.-based Riverwards Group (founded in 2009), is a leading Egyptian real estate developer. Its portfolio includes more than 5,000 units across Egypt, with a growing focus on mixed-use projects that combine residential, tourism, and retail spaces.

TRIBE expands efficient design hotel model

Founded in 2017, TRIBE is positioned as a brand built around efficient design and social spaces. Its hotels aim to offer what guests need without added complexity, a model that has resonated with younger and business-leisure travelers.

The brand now operates in more than 10 countries, with over 20 hotels open and dozens more in development.

Accor expands via global partnerships

Ain Sokhna’s growth has been tied to infrastructure upgrades and rising demand for homes along the coast. The area is increasingly seen as an extension of Greater Cairo, offering easier access to the Red Sea.

The TRIBE project also fits within Egypt’s Vision 2030 plans to expand tourism capacity and attract more investment into the sector.

Accor, which operates in more than 110 countries with over 5,800 properties, continues to expand through partnerships rather than direct ownership. Its portfolio spans more than 45 brands, from luxury to economy, alongside lifestyle offerings developed with Ennismore.

Once completed, TRIBE Ain Sokhna at Baymount is expected to add to the range of lifestyle hotels on the Red Sea, as developers and operators compete to meet changing travel habits.
