The 66th Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), held April 20–25 at the Zimbabwe International Conference and Exhibition Smart City in Bulawayo, generated more than $600 million in business transactions, confirmed orders and investment leads, according to Industry and Commerce Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu.

Ndlovu said the outcomes included several memoranda of understanding in manufacturing, technology and related sectors, with additional high-value leads expected to move toward binding agreements after due diligence.

Organisers described the results as one of the strongest showings in recent years, driven by broad participation from both local and international companies.

Record participation and space constraints

This year’s event drew more than 800 exhibitors from over 30 countries, including more than 100 first-time participants. Demand for exhibition space exceeded expectations, pushing utilisation to 104 percent of the 48,655 square metres available for sale.

To accommodate the overflow, organisers erected a 2,100-square-metre marquee that hosted 105 additional exhibitors.

Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company Board Chairperson Dr Busisa Moyo said at least one major trade agreement was signed on the sidelines of the event, with full details expected to be released later.

He said the turnout reflected sustained interest from investors and exporters seeking opportunities in the region, particularly in manufacturing, services and industrial supply chains.

Organisers confirm next edition 2027

Organisers have confirmed that the next edition of the trade fair will take place from April 26 to May 1, 2027.

They said planning has already begun, with a focus on expanding exhibition capacity and improving infrastructure to meet growing demand from participants.

ZITF remains one of southern Africa’s largest trade platforms, bringing together government, private sector players and international exhibitors for deal-making and market access discussions.
