Morocco berry farm expansion

Elite Agro Holding has inaugurated a 200-hectare agricultural site in Kenitra, Morocco, dedicated to blueberry and raspberry cultivation, marking a major expansion backed by investments exceeding AED 500 million ($136.15 million).

The new facility strengthens Morocco’s position as the group’s largest berry production hub and underscores its strategy to scale operations across global fresh produce markets.

Expansion driven by rising global berry demand
The Kenitra farm becomes Elite Agro’s seventh agricultural site in Morocco, adding to a growing network across key regions including Sidi Yahya, Fes, Beni Mellal, Sefrou, Marrakech, and Benslimane.

The group’s cumulative investments in Morocco now exceed AED 500 million ($136.15 million), positioning it among the country’s largest foreign investors in the agricultural sector. According to the company, its operations have generated more than 8,000 jobs across rural communities.

Elite Agro cultivates a wide range of crops, including berries, citrus, grapes, apples, and stone fruits, serving both domestic and export markets, with berries emerging as one of the fastest-growing segments globally.

Technology and sustainability at the core
The Kenitra facility integrates advanced irrigation systems and modern agricultural technologies designed to optimize water usage and enhance crop quality, aligning with international sustainability standards.

Operations are supported by multiple global certifications, including GLOBALG.A.P., GRASP, Tesco Nurture, SPRING, Field to Fork, and SMETA, reflecting the group’s focus on food safety, environmental management, and responsible farming practices.

These systems are critical as agricultural producers face increasing pressure to improve efficiency and sustainability amid climate and resource challenges.

Morocco positioned as strategic export hub
The expansion reinforces Morocco’s role as a key export platform for Elite Agro, enabling the group to meet growing international demand for high-quality berries.

Group CEO Hassan Halawy said the new farm represents a strategic step in expanding berry production across regional and global markets, with Morocco at the center of its growth pipeline.

By scaling its footprint in the country, Elite Agro is strengthening its position in the global fresh produce value chain while supporting rural development and long-term agricultural investment.
