Aldar to develop Nabdh community hub and park on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island

Aldar is moving ahead with plans to develop a new community park and hub on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, as the emirate expands investment in shared public spaces aimed at improving quality of life for residents.

The project, known as Yas Community Park, is being delivered in partnership with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Community Development (Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development).

It is designed to bring together residential neighborhoods and nearby leisure districts through accessible green space and social infrastructure.

At the center of the development will be Nabdh Yas, a community hub that will host programs for families, young people and older residents.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen community services across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra through a standardized hub model.

Under the agreement, the department will define community needs, oversee programming and set regulatory standards, while Aldar will handle planning, design and construction.

The long-term management of the hub will remain with the department.

Community-focused development on Yas Island

The project is part of the Yas Inclusive City initiative, a joint programme between Aldar and the Department of Community Development aimed at improving access to shared spaces across Yas Island (Yas Island).

The park will sit between residential zones and entertainment areas, creating a link between daily living spaces and visitor destinations.

Features will include a mosque, an accessible children’s playground, shaded seating areas for families and small retail outlets.

The hub is expected to serve as a regular meeting point for residents, with structured community activities and services delivered in partnership with public and private organizations.

Expanding Abu Dhabi’s community hub network

The Nabdh model is designed to create consistent community centers across multiple districts, offering spaces for learning, volunteering and local engagement.

Officials say the approach is intended to encourage participation across different age groups while improving access to neighborhood-level services.

“The collaboration with the Department of Community Development on Nabdh Yas reflects a shared commitment to creating places that bring people together and enrich everyday life across Abu Dhabi,” said Talal Al Dhiyebi, group chief executive of Aldar (Aldar Properties).

Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri, undersecretary at the Department of Community Development, said the hubs are intended to strengthen social ties and support community participation through structured programs.
