German companies are taking a closer look at Mozambique as they seek new investment and business opportunities in one of Southern Africa’s emerging industrial markets.

A delegation representing more than 20 German companies, chambers of commerce and economic institutions visited MozParks’ Beluluane Industrial Park during a business mission organized by the Chemnitz Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Mines of Mozambique.

The visit comes as Mozambique hosts the 61st edition of FACIM and marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between Mozambique and Germany. It is also giving German businesses an opportunity to meet potential local partners and assess prospects for setting up operations in Mozambique and serving markets across the region.

For the delegation, Beluluane offered a practical look at the infrastructure available to manufacturers and other businesses. MozParks presented its industrial park model, available services and plans to develop similar parks in other provinces.

German support strengthens industrial infrastructure

The visit also highlighted the role German cooperation has played in Beluluane’s development. German financial cooperation through KfW supported the rehabilitation and expansion of the park’s electricity substation, raising its capacity from 20 MVA to 80 MVA.

Reliable power remains a key concern for industrial investors, particularly manufacturers and other energy-intensive businesses. MozParks CEO Onório Manuel said the existing German involvement provides a base for deeper commercial ties.

“German cooperation has contributed to important infrastructure in the Park, while German companies are already operating here,” Manuel said. “The opportunity now is to build on that foundation and bring more German investment, technology and industrial partnerships to Mozambique.”

Beluluane offers access to regional markets

Beluluane Industrial Park is Mozambique’s largest industrial park, with more than 70 companies and more than 10,000 jobs. Its location in Maputo Province provides access to the N4 corridor, the ports of Maputo and Matola, and neighboring South Africa and Eswatini.

That network gives companies operating from the park access to Mozambique’s domestic market while providing links to wider Southern African markets. The German delegation’s visit formed part of a broader program connecting German businesses with Mozambican companies, investment projects and potential partners.

MozParks is a developer and operator of Sustainable Economic Zones established as a public-private partnership between APIEX and the African Sustainable Economic Zones Alliance (ASEZA).

It operates parks in Maputo and Nampula provinces and is expanding into Cabo Delgado.

MozParks says it has attracted more than 70 companies from 18 countries, generated income for more than 120,000 people and secured more than $4 billion in investments.
