voco hotels, IHG Hotels & Resorts’ fastest-growing premium brand, has entered East Africa with the opening of voco Nairobi Airport Suites, its first property in Kenya and the region. The 112-suite hotel sits off Mombasa Road, near Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and within walking distance of the Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway Terminus.

Suites built for longer stays

The property is designed around extended stays, business travel and airport transits, combining hotel services with the flexibility of all-suite accommodation. Each suite includes separate living and dining areas, a fully equipped kitchenette, workspace, private balcony and in-suite laundry facilities, giving guests more room to settle in.

The hotel is about eight kilometers from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and provides a complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle. Its location also offers access to the Nairobi Expressway, Mombasa Road business corridor and Nairobi SGR Station, positioning the property for travelers moving between the capital, airport and other parts of Kenya.

Rooftop dining takes center stage

Four dining concepts anchor the hotel’s food and beverage offering. Kilimanjaro Restaurant occupies the rooftop beside the pool, serving global dishes through buffet and à la carte menus, live cooking stations and a barbecue experience. Savannah Lounge offers cocktails and light bites, while Cigar Haven provides a quieter setting.

Malt & Mocha operates on the ground floor with premium coffee, pastries and refreshments around the clock. The hotel also has 623 square meters of meeting and event space across four venues, including the 235.33-square-meter Mara Hall, which can accommodate up to 180 guests for conferences, meetings and social events.

IHG expands African footprint

Haitham Mattar, IHG’s managing director for India, the Middle East and Africa, said the opening reflects the company’s confidence in Nairobi and the wider region. He said demand for flexible, high-quality accommodation from business and leisure travelers made the city an important market for the premium voco brand.

Amit Sharma, general manager of voco Nairobi Airport Suites, said the property was created for travelers who want the convenience of a hotel while retaining the feeling of home. Beyond accommodation, the hotel offers a fitness center, rooftop pool, complimentary parking and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the property.

The opening expands IHG Hotels & Resorts’ presence in Africa while adding the voco brand to East Africa for the first time. Guests can also reach attractions including Nairobi National Park, the Giraffe Centre and the Karen Blixen Museum, allowing the property to serve business travelers, airport passengers and leisure visitors from a single Nairobi base.
