Egyptian entrepreneur Mounir Nakhla is taking MNT-Halan to Egypt’s stock market with a planned EGP7.84 billion ($150 million) initial public offering, a deal that would make the fintech company’s listing the country’s largest in dollar terms since 2021.

The company plans to offer 320 million shares at EGP24.5 each, representing about 20 percent of MNT Tech Holding’s issued share capital, according to a disclosure published Tuesday on the Egyptian Exchange website. The IPO would give investors exposure to MNT-Halan’s expanding financial-services platform.

IPO sets EGP24.5 price

MNT-Halan provides consumer and business lending, prepaid cards, e-wallets, investment products and e-commerce services through its mobile application and physical network. The company says its broader ecosystem serves more than 8 million customers, while its latest disclosed active-customer figure stands at about 1.9 million.

Nakhla and Ahmed Mohsen founded MNT-Halan in 2017, building the business from a financial-services startup into one of Egypt’s largest fintech companies. The company became Egypt’s first fintech unicorn in 2023 after raising $400 million at a valuation above $1 billion.

From startup to unicorn

In June, MNT-Halan said its valuation had climbed to $1.4 billion after it closed the initial tranche of a funding round worth over $70 million. The higher valuation reinforced its position among the small group of Egyptian technology companies to secure billion-dollar private-market valuations.

The company has also built a substantial lending operation. Since its inception, MNT-Halan has disbursed about EGP178 billion ($6.1 billion) inloans, based on average historical exchange rates. Its gross loan book stood at about EGP46.7billion ($893 million) at the end of June.

Expansion beyond Egypt

MNT-Halan has extended its financial-services model beyond Egypt into Pakistan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. The international footprint adds scale to a business that remains centered on lending and payments for consumers and businesses in its home market.

Its expansion has broadened MNT-Halan from a lending-focused company into a wider digital-finance platform. The company now combines credit, payments, investment products and e-commerce, linking its digital services with a physical distribution network serving millions of customers.

CIB backs the offering

Commercial International Bank, one of Egypt’s largest private-sector lenders, has agreed to commit up to EGP2 billion ($38.15 million) to the proposed offering. CIB will purchase shares in the international portion of the IPO, giving MNT-Halan a major Egyptian financial institution as a cornerstone investor.

The agreement among CIB, MNT Tech Holding for Financial Investments and MNT Investments B.V. was entered into Sept. 24, 2026, according to the agreement. CIB’s commitment remains subject to the terms and conditions set out in the agreement and offering documents.

The planned IPO would put a $1.4 billion private-market valuation and an international fintech business before public investors. For Egypt’s stock market, the EGP7.84 billion deal would rank among its biggest recent offerings and mark a major public-market test for Nakhla’s fast-growing financial-services group.
