Edita Food Industries, the Cairo-based consumer goods group led by Egyptian businessman Hani Berzi, plans to invest up to EGP4 billion ($71.3 million) in 2026 to expand production capacity as it targets annual sales of EGP26 billion ($463 million), a %25 increase from 2025.

Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Samy said the company expects revenue to rise from about EGP21 billion ($375 million) in 2025, with additional manufacturing capacity supporting demand in Egypt and overseas markets. The investment will also help improve operational efficiency as Edita expands its regional and international distribution network.

Production expansion drives growth

The company is expanding its export reach as it seeks new sources of revenue beyond its domestic market. Edita’s Moroccan operations have begun exporting products to Mauritania and several European countries, opening additional markets for its packaged snacks and strengthening its cross-border manufacturing strategy.

A key part of the expansion is a new manufacturing facility in the industrial zone of 6th of October City, west of Cairo. The plant is scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2027, with four production lines expected to increase Edita’s total manufacturing capacity by about 10%.

Berzi strengthens Edita’s position

Founded in 1996 by Berzi, Edita has grown into one of Egypt’s major fast-moving consumer goods companies, with a focus on packaged snack foods. Its Molto brand helped popularize packaged filled croissants in the Middle East and North Africa, giving the company a foothold in a competitive consumer market.

Berzi, who serves as chairman and managing director, holds a 48.75% stake in Edita through Quantum Invest BV. His ownership position gives him a significant interest in the company’s expansion as it commits capital to manufacturing, distribution and broader regional operations.

Financing backs expansion plans

Edita is also working to strengthen its financial capacity to support future growth. The company has outlined plans to increase its authorized capital by EGP1 billion ($18 million), providing additional room to finance expansion and operational requirements as it pursues higher sales.

In September 2026, Edita secured a EGP600 million ($10.6 million) debt facility led by Arab Bank to support expansion in Egypt and cross-border banking operations in Morocco and Iraq. The financing adds to the resources available as the company prepares to bring new production capacity online and pursue its 2026 sales target.
