Guinness Ghana Breweries Plc, the Ghanaian subsidiary of British alcoholic beverage group Diageo, has appointed Sandra Adu-Gyamfi as its new Company Secretary, effective October 28, 2026, as the brewer makes a change to its corporate governance leadership.

The appointment follows the resignation of Kelvin Boateng Koranteng, who stepped down on the same date. The company disclosed the changes in a circular to shareholders and the investing public, confirming that its board approved Adu-Gyamfi’s appointment at a meeting held on October 28, following a recommendation from the Nomination and Remunerations Committee.

Sandra Adu-Gyamfi returns to Guinness Ghana

Sandra Adu-Gyamfi returns to Guinness Ghana Breweries as Corporate Relations Director and Company Secretary, bringing more than 13 years of experience spanning legal advisory, corporate governance, regulatory affairs and compliance across multinational organisations.

Her appointment also brings back an executive familiar with the brewer’s business and operating environment. She previously worked at Guinness Ghana as Assistant Legal Counsel between 2017 and 2022, gaining experience within the company before moving into broader legal and governance responsibilities.

Before returning to the brewer, Sandra Adu-Gyamfi served as General Counsel and Company Secretary of Fan Milk Plc, a member of the Danone Group. In that role, she advised the board and executive leadership team while providing legal, governance and risk oversight across Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo and Benin.

She also held oversight responsibility for corporate communications in Ghana and played a leading role in Fan Milk’s B Corp certification journey, adding corporate relations and sustainability-related experience to her legal and governance background.

Legal and corporate governance experience

Adu-Gyamfi is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana. Her academic qualifications include a Master of Laws degree in International Corporate and Commercial Law from King’s College London.

She also holds degrees in French and Philosophy and Law from the University of Ghana and the Université de Caen in France. Her professional background across legal practice, multinational corporate leadership and regulatory compliance positions her to oversee the company’s statutory and governance responsibilities.

Board thanks outgoing company secretary

Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC, a leading total beverage business in Ghana, is listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange and majority-owned by the Castel Group (following its acquisition of an 80.4% stake from Diageo in July 2025), with Diageo retaining ownership of the Guinness brand under long-term licensing and distribution agreements.

Guinness Ghana said the change would ensure continuity in its corporate governance and statutory compliance functions, adding that it would not affect the company’s operations or shareholders’ rights.

The board also expressed appreciation to Koranteng for his service as Company Secretary and welcomed Adu-Gyamfi to the position.

The appointment takes effect immediately from October 28, 2026, with Adu-Gyamfi assuming responsibility for the company secretariat alongside her Corporate Relations Director role.
