A Kenya safari followed by a few days on the beaches of Seychelles is becoming a more attractive proposition for North American travellers as Kenya Airways and Seychelles step up efforts to market the two destinations as one African holiday.

The partnership brings together two very different tourism experiences. Kenya offers wildlife, national parks and safari drives, while Seychelles draws visitors with beaches, marine activities, nature and luxury resorts.

The strategy is aimed at travellers who want to see more of Africa in one trip, while giving Seychelles a stronger foothold in the North American market.

Kenya Airways’ nonstop New York-Nairobi service provides a direct link to East Africa, followed by connections to Seychelles.

Tourism officials see the arrangement as a practical way to encourage visitors already planning a Kenya safari to extend their stay with an island holiday in the Indian Ocean.

Kenya safari meets Seychelles beaches

David Germain, Seychelles Tourism Board representative for the Americas, said twin-centre holidays have long offered an opportunity to attract more North American visitors.

“An African safari in Kenya followed by a holiday in Seychelles brings together some of the best that Africa has to offer,” Germain said, citing the combination of wildlife, beaches and the islands’ natural attractions.

Germain discussed the initiative with Anthony Brinn, Kenya Airways’ commercial manager for the USA.

Their talks also looked at recent disruptions in the Middle East and whether travellers could show greater interest in alternative routes through East Africa.

Kenya Airways expands Seychelles connection

Kenya Airways currently operates four weekly flights between Nairobi and Seychelles and plans to increase the frequency from September 2026.

The airline’s New York-Nairobi route gives North American travellers a direct entry point into Kenya before continuing to Seychelles.

Seychelles Tourism Board Chief Executive Vesna Rakić welcomed the initiative, saying it would build on the destination’s long-standing relationship with Kenya Airways while supporting efforts to diversify its tourism markets.

Kenya Airways is Kenya’s national carrier, operating an international network from its Nairobi hub.

Seychelles is a 115-island destination in the western Indian Ocean, with tourism playing a major role in its economy.

The partnership is expected to encourage tour operators and travel advisers to package Kenya safari holidays with Seychelles beach stays, giving North American travellers a single itinerary that combines wildlife, nature and island tourism.
