Africa has once again proven its global appeal as four of its iconic travel destinations landed on a newly updated list of the most beautiful places in the world.

From towering waterfalls to pristine coastlines and vast desert dunes, the continent’s natural wonders are gaining international recognition among travelers seeking unforgettable outdoor experiences. 

1. Victoria Falls, Zambia/Zimbabwe (Ranked 2nd globally) 

Straddling the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is one of the largest waterfalls in the world.

The falls create a dramatic curtain of water that plunges into the Zambezi River below. Surrounded by diverse wildlife, including giraffes and zebras, the falls offer an unforgettable experience, with mist rising from the water and drenching visitors in a spray that feels almost magical.

The spirals of mist, the roar of the falls, and the proximity to giraffes and baboons make this an unforgettable experience.

2. Dakhla, Western Sahara (Ranked 18th globally) 

Nestled in the Western Sahara, Dakhla is a 35km-long peninsula that reaches into the Atlantic Ocean, boasting pristine white beaches and a turquoise lagoon.

Its unspoiled waters and endless horizons make it a kite surfer’s haven, while the area is also known for its rich seafood, including oysters.

Dakhla remains a hidden gem, offering serenity and adventure in equal measure.

3. Storms River, South Africa (Ranked 21st globally) 

In South Africa’s Tsitsikamma National Park, Storms River winds through lush coastal forests before meeting the Indian Ocean.

Known for its stunning landscapes, the river leads to the park’s iconic waterfall. As Alison Budge advises, “After taking in the river’s beauty, embark on the famous Otter Trail to discover the park’s magnificent waterfall.” 

4. Erg Chebbi, Morocco (Ranked 25th globally) 

The vast dunes of Erg Chebbi in Morocco’s Sahara Desert create a surreal landscape, with sand dunes reaching up to 300 meters tall.

Located near the town of Merzouga, it’s the ideal spot for witnessing a breathtaking sunrise, as the desert’s stillness and beauty leave visitors in awe. 

These remarkable African destinations highlight the continent’s unrivaled natural wonders, proving that Africa’s beauty is truly world-class.
