The technology partnership between pan-African telecom operator Axian Telecom and Oracle Corporation is shifting from strategy to execution as digital services operator Yas deploys a unified enterprise resource planning (ERP) system across the group’s African operations.

The cloud-based deployment, developed in partnership with Oracle, will cover Yas and affiliated businesses including TowerCo of Africa, MVola, Mixx, STELLARIX and zuku, according to a company statement. The project is designed to bring finance, procurement and supply chain operations onto a single platform as Axian Telecom pushes to simplify internal processes across multiple African markets.

The group said the new system will also introduce artificial intelligence tools aimed at improving forecasting, speeding up operational decisions and helping management track performance more efficiently across its businesses. The first phase of the rollout is expected to begin in Tanzania later this year.

For Axian Telecom, the project comes at a time when telecom operators across Africa are spending heavily on digital infrastructure to support rising demand for data services, mobile money and enterprise connectivity. The company said the Oracle-backed system will help support future growth while giving its operations a more standardized structure across countries and business units.

Unified Yas brand integrates operations

Founded by Malagasy businessman Hassanein Hiridjee, Axian Telecom has grown into one of Africa’s largest telecom operators, with operations spanning Tanzania, Madagascar, Togo, Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Réunion, Mayotte and Comoros. The company serves about 36 million customers and ranks among Africa’s largest mobile operators.

Since 2015, Axian Telecom has expanded through acquisitions and network investments, building operations across mobile services, fiber networks, digital infrastructure and mobile financial services. That expansion has also helped strengthen the company’s earnings and balance sheet.

Yas now serves as the group’s unified mobile brand, bringing together operations previously run under brands including Togocom, Free au Senegal, Telma Comoros, Telma Madagascar and Tigo Tanzania. The rebranding effort is part of Axian Telecom’s push to build a stronger pan-African identity while keeping its focus on local markets where mobile connectivity and financial inclusion remain major growth areas.

Axian Telecom climbs FT rankings

The Oracle rollout follows another milestone for Axian Telecom under Hiridjee’s leadership. The company recently climbed to No. 63 on the 2026 edition of the Financial Times ranking of Africa’s Fastest-Growing Companies, improving from No. 74 a year earlier. Compiled with Statista, the ranking tracks compound annual revenue growth between 2021 and 2024 while factoring in revenue size, independence and organic growth.

For the 2025 financial year, Axian Telecom reported revenue of $1.69 billion, compared with $1.4 billion a year earlier. Profit after tax rose to $226.3 million from $114.08 million in 2024, supported by stronger operating performance in key markets. Total assets increased to $2.88 billion at the end of 2025 from $2.45 billion a year earlier, reflecting continued investment in networks, infrastructure and digital services.
