Egyptian businessman Ayman Abbas, executive chairman of Intro Holding Group and son of businessman Mamdouh Abbas, has acquired a 10% stake in Cairo-based proptech startup Aqar Exit in a $200,000 investment that values the company at $2 million after the transaction.

The primary investment of EGP10 million ($180,700) by Ayman Abbas will support product development and preparations to expand into Gulf real estate markets as the startup targets a $5 million funding round in 2027.

The transaction follows Aqar Exit’s appearance on Shark Tank Egypt, a platform for emerging businesses seeking investment and visibility. Founded in July 2026 by chief executive Mahmoud Ammar, the company operates a digital marketplace focused on property contract assignments in Egypt’s primary residential market.

Aqar Exit targets liquidity challenges in Egypt’s property market

Aqar Exit aims to address a problem facing homebuyers who purchase properties through developer installment plans but later struggle to meet their payment obligations.

Its platform connects buyers seeking to exit existing property commitments with prospective purchasers interested in acquiring off-plan residential units at the original developer contract price.

The model is designed to help existing buyers recover capital already paid toward their properties while giving new purchasers access to units without traditional resale markups or developer contract assignment fees.

During its first two months of operations, the company reported approximately EGP9 billion ($180 million) in aggregate secondary transaction interest and listings. The figure reflects activity facilitated through the platform and does not necessarily represent completed transactions.

$200,000 investment to fund product development

Ayman Abbas’s investment will provide additional capital for Aqar Exit to broaden its product offering and strengthen the technology underpinning its marketplace.

The funding will support the development of digitized escrow tools, automated developer compliance mechanisms, and asset verification protocols. These capabilities are intended to improve transaction processes, strengthen verification and build confidence among participants in the property assignment market.

The investment also gives the startup additional financial runway as it develops the infrastructure needed to support a wider range of property transactions.

Gulf expansion precedes planned $5 million funding round

Aqar Exit plans to use part of the capital to prepare for expansion into selected markets across the Gulf Cooperation Council. The preparations will cover regulatory, technical and commercial requirements for entering markets beyond Egypt, although the company has not identified specific countries.

Ayman Abbas’s investment comes as the businessman maintains interests across sectors through Intro Holding Group. He is also associated with ADES Holdings, an international drilling services group founded by his father, Mamdouh Abbas, in the early 2000s.

ADES operates across onshore and offshore contract drilling and workover services. Its reported footprint spans nine countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Algeria, Tunisia, Qatar, India, Indonesia and Thailand, with a fleet of 87 rigs and more than 8,000 employees.

Aqar Exit targets institutional investors in 2027

The $200,000 investment is intended to bridge Aqar Exit toward a planned $5 million Series A funding round in 2027. The company expects the future round to target regional venture capital funds and institutional real estate investors.

Its next stage of growth will depend on converting early marketplace interest into completed transactions, advancing its technology and establishing operations in additional markets. These milestones will be important as Aqar Exit seeks to build a broader regional marketplace for secondary property contract assignments.
